Weka River Vineyard was created out of a desire to see the vines grow, from budburst through to harvest, and to achieve the best possible fruit for every harvest. Premium quality fruit along with ideas and techniques developed over many years combine to contribute to the production of unique and fine wines.
The vineyard is tended with a boutique and hands-on approach to viticulture. VSP (vertical shoot positioning) is employed on our vineyards. This allows for dappled light to pass through the canopy during vital stages of the fruit's development and ensures clean and crisp flavours. Our vines are planted on a northwards orientation, capturing the midday summer sun at its zenith, ensuring even ripening on both sides of the plant.
